Mob Attraction Las Vegas is more than a simple museum that glorifies or explains how early Vegas was back in the day. It’s actually an interactive experience that places guests in the middle of various recreated scenes in a playful attempt to demonstrate the life of a mobster (without risk of a baseball bat to the knees, or a jail sentence). At the start of the exhibit, a holographic mobster introduces you to the attraction and gives some mob-related historical facts. Soon after, the attraction’s actors come into the room and essentially ask you if you’ll join them in their underhanded deals or if you’ll be a rat and inform the police. If you accept, you'll be plunged into the life of the mob with this brand new attraction.
Aside from the fun acting games you’ll become immersed with, the museum has a surprising amount of genuine artifacts of the Vegas mob’s glory days. You’ll learn all the details of Vegas’ most notorious mafia members like “Bugsy” Siegel, Meyer Lansky and Tony Spilotro. Even better, the museum isn’t just filled with simple artifacts (there are plenty of those) or pictures; there is a fully recreated Siegel living room and many of the exhibits have actual homemade video footage of them behind closed doors. You’ll see Siegel’s 1933 Packard limo, plenty of stolen artifacts like badges and medals, actual handwritten letters, golf clubs, and other items.
If you’re feeling a bit thirsty, there is a fully stocked bar where you can order your favorite cocktail and unwind after soaking in all the mob-related scenery and determining if Mob Attraction Las Vegas is simply educating the masses about the men who helped Las Vegas or glorifying people who were noted criminals. Luckily the museum and “ride” is much deeper on the former’s side than the latter’s.
The Mob Attraction at Las Vegas is actually one of two new mob-themed destinations in Las Vegas. It's competitor is the Mob Museum, located in downtown Las Vegas. Interestingly, when the two mob museums/attractions were being developed in Las Vegas, there was quite a bit of outrage from the locals. Many thought both exhibits would simply glorify the history of mobsters (that is, criminals, murderers, etc) who helped create the Las Vegas the world knows today. However, much to the protesters' relief, while Mob Attraction Las Vegas in the Tropicana Hotel & Casino does pay homage to the gangsters that shaped the city, it’s not done in a way that is disrespectful or ignorant.
The museum is open daily from 10 am – 9 pm and tickets cost $28 for adults; $22 for locals, seniors and military personnel; $18 for kids 6-11; free for kids 5 and younger.
