With winter setting in on most of the country, Las Vegas becomes one of the top destinations for runners in November and Decembers. The city hosts several great events, the biggest of which is the Rock N’ Roll Marathon and Half Marathon on December 4. Featuring one of the most exciting courses in the country, the race is sure to sell out soon. With an evening start time (somewhat unusual for these sorts of races), runners traverse The Strip lit up in all its glory. The weekend is full of events surrounding the race, too, including a pasta dinner, a pre-race concert by Cheap Trick (think I Want You to Want Me or Surrender), and post-race parties at top nightspots XS (at Encore) and LAVO (at Palazzo). This year also features the first ever Stiletto Dash – a 50 yard sprint through the halls of Palazzo reserved for only the bravest of women. Check out the official Rock n’ Roll page for more details on the race.
For those looking for a shorter distance, the Las Vegas Great Santa Run is a fun option. Each year over 10,000 Santas descend upon Las Vegas to race The Strip in this 5k run. That’s right, 10,000 Santas. Don’t believe us? Check out the video below of the 2007 event.
